01/21/2022 @ 1930, Stranded Persons – General Steam – Man Hours – 22
SAR responded to assist National Forest Service on two subjects stranded in a Jeep on
General Steam Road. They were in an area with no cell or radio service. The Ranger and
SAR attempted several times to get the subjects back to Enterprise Reservoir. SAR
finally took the two subjects back to Enterprise. Their vehicle was left on General Steam
Road.

01/22/2022 @ 1530, Stranded Motorist – General Steam – Man Hours – 27
SAR responded to two subjects stranded in a Toyota Tacoma on General Steam Road.
The subjects had to hike over a mile to get cell signal to call for help. SAR located them
in almost the exact location of the rescue the day prior. SAR work to get them back to the
paved roadway. They were released. No EMS needed.

01/29/2022 @ 1420, Injured Mtn Biker, LaVerkin Twist Trail – Man Hours – 42
SAR was dispatched to an injured Mountain Biker on the LaVerkin Twist Trail. SAR,
EMS, and LaVerkin PD located the subject. He had potential head and neck injuries. He
was taken to a UTV and driven back to the IC. He was taken by ambulance to SGRH.
01/29/2022 @ 1700, Climber Fall, Virgin River Gorge – Man Hours – 48

SAR responded to a 45 year old male climber that fell about 40 feet. SAR hiked into the
canyon and located the injured male. They stabilized the subject. The Arizona DPS
helicopter arrived and hoisted the subject out. He was transferred to Mercy Air and
flown to SGRH for treatment.

02/02/2022 @ 1420, Injured Mtn Biker, Desert Canyon Area – Man Hours – 24
SAR, SGPD and Gold Cross responded to a report of a Mountain Biker that crashed on a
trail. EMS and SAR worked on the 75 year old male and found he was having a medical
issue. They loaded him into a UTV and took him to an ambulance. He was taken to
SGRH. Unfortunately the male didn’t survive.

02/04/2022 @ 1715, Injured Hiker, Scout Cave Trail – Man Hours – 26
SAR was called to a 12 year old female that fell 8 feet while hiking the Scout Trail. SAR,
SGFD, and Gold Cross hiked in. She was located and stabilize with a suspected leg
fracture. She was carried to a UTV and driven out to the IC. She was taken to SGRH for
treatment.

02/06/2022 @ 1030 – Injured Hiker – LaVerkin Twist Trail – Man Hours – 45
SAR responded to a male that fell 8 feet and then rolled 12 more feet into a Ravine. The
male stated his dog knocked him off balance and he fell off the cliff. SAR and Hurricane
EMS located him They assisted him to an UTV. He was placed in the UTV and taken to
the IC. He denied EMS transport and was released.

02/12/2022 @ 1227 – Injured Mountain Biker – Bear-Claw Poppy – Man Hours – 21
Search and Rescue units responded to assist with a 64 year old male who was reportedly
involved in a traumatic bicycle accident on Bear Claw Poppy Trail near the bottom of
Clavicle Hill. The male was located and placed in a life flight helicopter. He was then
transported to the hospital. All Search and Rescue Members were accounted for.

02/15/2022 @ 1200 – Lost hiker – Red Mountain Trail – Man Hours – 26
SAR responded to the Red Mountain Trail in Dammeron Valley on a report of an elderly
male who fell on the trail and was feeling dizzy. Fire, medical, and Search and Rescue
personnel made contact with the male and was able to give him a ride back to the trail
head. The male had minor injuries and was not transported to the hospital.

02/18/2022 @ 1130 – Injured Mountain Biker – Guacamole Trail – Man Hours – 25
SAR responded to an injured Mountain Biker on the Guacamole Trail. The male had
wrecked and put his handle bar through his thigh. Due to serious bleeding, Life Flight
was launched. As SAR was working their way to the male, Life Flight advised they had
landed and were taking the male to the helicopter. He was flown to SGRH for treatment.

02/19/2022 @ 1200 – Ill Hiker – Moe’s Valley – Man Hours – 22
SAR responded to a male having a medical issue in the Moe’s Valley area. Fire, medical,
SAR, and Air Med personnel responded. The patient recovered and was driven back out
to the ambulance for further examination before being released. All personnel cleared
without incident.

02/26/2022 @ 1120 – UTV Accident – Sand Mountain – Man Hours – 24
SAR responded to a UTV Accident on Sand Mountain. Several SAR were already on the
Mountain and responded. The injured female was located and put on a UTV, She was
taken to the ambulance waiting at the Water Tanks. She was taken to SGRH for
treatment.

02/27/2022 @ 1220 – Injured Hiker – Snow Canyon State Park – Man Hours -33
SAR responded to an injured hiker on the Petrified Dunes. He had injured his knee and
was unable to walk. SAR located him and assisted him Back to the trail head. He refused
EMS and was released.

03/08/2022 @ 1200 – Injured Hiker – Red Cliff’s Recreation Area – Man Hours – 28
SAR responded to a 58 year old female that fell and has a possible broken ankle. SAR
hiked in and located her. They stabilized her ankle and carried her out to the Incident
Command. She refused further treatment and was released to her husband.

03/09/2022 @ 1830 – Lost Hikers – Vortex Trail, Lower Sand Cove – Man Hours – 30
SAR responded to four lost hikers in their 70’s on the Vortex Trail. SAR and fire units
deployed. They located the hikers and led them back to the IC. They were given rides
back to their vehicle’s and released.

03/11/2022 @ 2000 – Lost Hikers – Water Canyon – Man Hours – 72
SAR responded to two lost hikers on Canaan Mountain. The hikers said they were lost,
getting cold, and had no way to light a fire. SAR units hiked up Water Canyon and use
UTV’s from the Coral Pink area. They located the hikers. They were loaded into UTV’s
are driven back to the Incident Command. They denied EMS and were released.
03/12/2022 @ 1700 – Lost Persons – Sand Mountain – Man Hours – 20

SAR Members responded to a couple who had gotten lost in Sand Mountain area in their
Jeep. Incident Command was established at the water tanks. Several SAR members
responded from Incident Command to locate the individuals. The individuals were
located in their vehicle and guided back to incident command. Both individuals both
refused medical attention. All SAR members were accounted for.

03/15/2022 @ 1100 – Injured Mountain Biker – Clavicle Hill – Man Hours – 24
SAR responded to a 20 year old male that crashed on a Mountain Bike. The male had a
possible head and ankle injuries. SAR and EMS hiked down to the subject. He was
stabilize and carried up the hill to an ambulance. He was taken to SGRH for treatment.
