01/21/202 @ 1200, Missing Person – LaVerkin Bridge – Man Hours – 32
SAR responded to assist deputies on a missing person in LaVerkin. The 21 year old male
had been located next to the Virgin River below the LaVerkin Bridge. SAR went in
crossed the river and carried the subject out. The male did not survive. He was turned
over to the detectives on scene.
01/22/2024 @ 1115, Stranded Motorist, Cottonwood Road – Man Hours – 3
SAR deputies responded to a stranded motorist on Cottonwood Road. The 81 year old
female got her vehicle stuck in the mud. She was winched back onto the road and
escorted out. No EMS was needed.
01/23/2024 @ 1204, Missing Person, Leeds Area – Man Hours – 48
SAR responded to locate a missing female in Leeds. The 85 year old female had been
gone since 0900. SAR searched the roadways, hills, and down to Red Cliff’s Recreation
area. During a briefing to redeploy, a neighbor started screaming. We responded and
found the missing female sitting in the front of a covered vehicle in the neighbors garage.
We had Hurricane EMS respond. They did transport her to St George Regional Hospital
for further treatment.
02/11/2024 @ 2200, Overdue Motorist – Pine Valley Area – Man Hours – 7
SAR was contacted concerning an overdue party. A 31 year old male and his 8 year old
son went 4-wheeling in a truck around 0700 and failed to return by 1900 hours. A deputy
searched the Pine Valley area and was unable to locate them. A few SAR members were
sent to assist the deputy. Before they arrived, the deputy located the subjects up Grass
Valley. Their vehicle was stuck so the deputy drove them out. They said they would get
the truck later. No EMS was needed.
02/17/2024 @ 1330, Motorcycle Accident – Toquerville Twist – Man Hours – 26
SAR responded to a 53 year old male that crashed his motorcycle. SAR Deputies and
Hurricane EMS went in to get to the male. The male had possible head injuries. Life
Flight was called to respond. The male was stabilized and placed into the helicopter. He
was flown to SGRH for treatment.
02/18/2025 @ 1300, Injured Hiker – Snow Canyon – Man Hours – 22
SAR responded to a 43 year old male who fell while hiking. He had hit his head and was
unable to hike out. Deputies, EMS, and SAR went in and carried him back to the
ambulance. He was taken to SGRH for treatment.
02/18/2025 @ 1630, Injured Hiker – Chuckawalla Trail – Man Hours – 28
SAR Gold Cross Ambulance and St George Fire responded to a 22 year old male who fell
and possibly broke his ankle. The hiker was at Turtle Wall. Units hiked in and located
the subject. His ankle was stabilized and he was brought back to the IC. He was taken by
ambulance to SGRH for treatment.
02/19/2024 @ 0747, Fall – LaVerkin Bridge – Man Hours – 46
Deputies and SAR responded to a 26 year old male who fell from the LaVerkin Bridge.
Deputies hiked in and found the subject did not survive. SAR went in and carried the
male back to the IC. They were released from the scene.
02/19/2024 @ 2030, Lost UTV Riders – Long Valley – Man Hours – 24
SAR responded to four subjects that were lost. They had been driving around for hours
and couldn’t find their way off Sand Mountain. SAR located the UTV’s and escorted
them back to their camp. They were released. No EMS was needed.
