07/18/2022 @ 1850, Stranded Vehicle – Babylon – Man Hours – 4
SAR and Deputies responded to a stranded vehicle in Lower Babylon. The vehicle was
within feet of the Virgin River. The vehicle was pulled out and the subjects escorted back
to the main roadway. No medical was needed.
07/23/2022 @ 1130, UTV Accident – Sand Mountain – Man Hours – 24
SAR responded to a UTV rollover on Sand Mountain. A 43 year old male rolled the
vehicle and was thrown out. He was in and out of consciousness and had possible internal
injuries. Life Flight was called to respond. SAR and EMS responded up the dunes. Life
Flight arrived on scene and assessed the subject. They loaded him in the helicopter and
flew him to St George Regional hospital with serious injuries.
07/29/2022 @ 1500, UTV Accident – Sand Mountain – Man Hours – 30
SAR responded to a 54 year old male that rolled a UTV. The male was complaining of a
severe arm pain. SAR and EMS located him and stabilized his arm. He was placed in a
UTV and driven back to the IC. He was transported by EMS to SGRH for treatment.
08/04/2022 @ 1100, Ill Subjects – Upper Babylon – Man Hours – 45
SAR responded to three subject complaining of Heat Exhaustion. A 49 year old female
and two males 18 and 15. The subjects had hiked in to get their motorcycle that was
stuck in the sand from the previous day. SAR and EMS went in and located the subjects.
They were all treated for heat exhaustion and brought out to the Incident Command.
SAR also recovered their motorcycle.
08/05/2022 @ 1800, Unknown Suspicious – Sand Hollow Res. – Man Hours – 18
SAR responded to a suspicious circumstance and Sand Hollow State Park. A male subject
said he was swimming at the Jumping Rocks and said he saw what looked like a foot and
possibly a leg in a cove. The SAR Dive Team deployed and located the suspicious object.
It was the bottom sole of a Barefoot water shoe.
08/09/2022 @ 1330, Jeep Accident – Sand Mountain – Man Hours – 42
SAR responded to a Jeep that rolled over on Sand Mountain. It was reported the Jeep
was laying on a 78 year old male and a second person, a 73 year old male, was trapped
inside the vehicle. Life Flight was launched. EMS and SAR went in on UTV’s. SAR
arrived and got both subjects free from the vehicle. Life Flight flew one male to SGRH.
The second male was brought back to the IC in a SAR vehicle. He was taken to SGRH by
ambulance.
08/10/2022 @ 0900, Mountain Bike Accident – Bear-Claw Poppy – Man Hours – 22
SAR was dispatch to a Mountain Bike crash on the Bear-Claw Poppy Trail. A 25 year old
female wrecked and went unconscious. She regained consciousness, but had an altered
mental status. SAR located her and stabilized her in a UTV. She was brought back to the
IC and turned over to EMS. She was taken to SGRH by ambulance.
08/15/2022 @ 1345, Ill Hiker – Scout Cave Trail – Man Hours – 20
SAR responded to a 55 year old female hiker showing signs of dehydration. SAR
deployed in Johnson Canyon and from the south toward Scout Cave. The subject was
located up a wash on the south end of the trail. She was brought back to the Johnson
Canyon Trail head. EMS checked her out and she was released.
