05/12/2025 @ 1457, Lost Hikers, Red Reef Trail, Red Cliffs Desert Reserve – Man Hours – 76.5 (Non Certified) 7.5 (Certified)
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to the Red Reef Trail on a report of two female hikers who had gotten lost. Incident Command (IC) was established at Red Cliffs Campground. SAR units began responding to the location of the patients. A drone was utilized to locate the patients and SAR members were guided to their location. They were both provided fluids to re hydrate. One of the females had an apparent ankle injury. Several rope systems were utilized to get the patients down to the riverbed. A wheeled stokes was then utilized to remove the patient with the ankle injury. Both patients declined medical evaluation when they arrived at IC.
05/29/2025 @ 1552, Heat Related Symptoms, Cottonwood Trail, Red Cliffs Desert Reserve – Man Hours – 26 (Non Certified) 5 (Certified)
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to the area of Cottonwood Trail on a report of 12 individuals between the age of 17-18 who had run out of water and were experiencing heat related symptoms. The group was approximately 2.5 miles from the trailhead. Three individuals in the party were able to hike back to the trailhead on their own and arrived shortly after Incident Command (IC) was established. They were provided fluids to re hydrate and placed in an air conditioned ambulance to cool off. They were able to provide the updated GPS coordinates of the rest of the party who were sitting in the shade and waiting for rescuers to respond. One member of the party that was still unaccounted for was reportedly experiencing worse symptoms that the others. SAR members began to respond to the location of the remaining party members. STAR7 was requested to assist due to the potentially severe symptoms of one of the party members. They were able to locate the party and land near their location. Two members of the group were loaded in the helicopter and transported back to IC. The remaining seven members of the group were provided fluids and assisted back to SAR members vehicles before being shuttled back to IC. All members of the group were assessed by Hurricane Medical units and declined medical transport.
06/03 /2025 @ 2331, Injury, Gray Ranch Rd, Pine Valley Mountain – Man Hours – 27 (Non Certified) 3.5 (Certified)
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to Gray Ranch Rd area on Pine Valley Mountain on a report of an elderly male that fell after getting out of his vehicle and could not get up. SAR located the male and evaluated him medically. He was then loaded in a SAR members vehicle and transported back to Incident Command where he was evaluated in an ambulance. The male refused medical services.

05/06/2025 @ 1750, Mountain Bike Accident, Wire Mesa Trail – Man Hours – 4 (Non Certified) 2 (Certified)
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to Wire Mesa Trail on a report of a male who had crashed his E-Bike and had a reported leg injury. Life Flight was requested due to the location and potential severity of his injuries. Units located the male and he was stabilized, he was then loaded in the Life Flight helicopter and transported to the hospital.
05/07/2025 @ 1402, Stranded Motorists, Mathews Ranch Rd – Man Hours – 4 (Certified)
Deputies responded to a report of Two females broken down in a vehicle on Mathews Ranch rd.
Due to the distance to the individuals and a lack of a precise location, DPS helicopter STAR7 was requested to assist. STAR7 was able to locate the individuals and bring them to Gunlock where their family to picked them up.
05/11/2025 @ 1022, ATV Accident, Babylon, Red Cliffs Desert Reserve – Man Hours – 4.5 (Certified)
Deputies responded to a report of a side by side rollover near Babylon Road involving two individuals. The driver reportedly had a serious head injury as a result of not wearing a helmet. The passenger was wearing a helmet and had apparent minor injuries. Life Flight was requested due to the condition of the patient. Deputies directed Life Flight to land near the patients. One patient was then loaded in the Life Flight helicopter and transported to the hospital. The other declined medical transport.
05/13/2025 @ 1330, Heat Related Symptoms, Confluence Park – Man Hours –1(Certified)
Deputies responded to Confluence Park on a report of a female hiker who had reportedly passed out and was feeling ill. Deputies located the hiker and guided Hurricane Medical units to her. She was evaluated and declined medical transport. She was given a ride back to the her vehicle.
05/13/2025 @ 1913, Injured Hiker, West Cinder Knolls Trail, Red Cliffs Desert Reserve – Man Hours – 1 (Certified)
Deputies responded to West Cinder Knoll Trail on a report of a hiker with a leg injury. The patient was located and evaluated by medical units. He was then given a ride back to his vehicle and declined medical transport.
05/20/2025 @ 1201, Ill Mountain Biker, Jem Trail – Man Hours – 10 (Non Certified) 3 (Certified)
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to Jem Trail near Sheep Bridge Road on a report of a female who was experiencing possible heat related symptoms. SAR units, in conjunction with Hurricane Medical units, responded to the location of the patient. She was provided with fluids and placed in a Jeep with air conditioning. She was then transported back to Incident Command where she declined medical transport.
05/24/2025 @ 1335, Side By Side Rollover, Sand Mountain – Man Hours – 2.5 (Non Certified) .5 (Certified)
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to a side by side rollover on Sand Mountain involving two occupants. One occupant had a reported head injury. SAR units arrived on scene and observed that both occupants where already down the mountain and inside the ambulance being treated for injuries. No further action was taken by SAR.
05/27/2025 @ 1143, Lost Hikers, Red Reef Trail, Red Cliffs Desert Reserve – Man Hours – 18 (Non Certified) 1.5 (Certified)
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to Sand Mountain on a report of a side by side rollover.
There were reportedly three individuals involved in the rollover. One female, and two males. The female had a suspected wrist injury and possible head injury. Life Flight was requested due to the possible head injury. They were unavailable. Classic was requested out of Cedar City and also determined to be unavailable. UHP helicopter STAR9 was requested but were also unavailable. SAR, in conjunction with Hurricane Valley Fire/EMS responded to the location of the patient and she was stabilized and determined to have minor injuries. All three individuals were transported back down the mountain in side by sides. The female patient was transported to Hurricane ER by ambulance. All SAR units were accounted for and cleared the scene.
05/28/2025 @ 2146, Lost Hikers, The Narrows, Zion National Park– Man Hours – 24 (Non Certified) 4 (Certified)
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to The Narrows in Zion National Park on a report of an adult male and two juvenile males who were lost. Based on the GPS they were determined to be near the Simon Gulch area, on the North Fork of the Virgin River, that connects to The Narrows. The lost group was almost out of water and other supplies and we were concerned about them staying overnight given the remote area. Due to the extended length of time it would take our rescuers to reach them, UHP Helicopter STAR7 was requested to assist. We started making a plan to respond on the ground in the event the helicopter wasn’t able to retrieve them. STAR7 was able to locate the lost hikers and hoist them back to the parking area in Zion. They were then given a ride to their vehicle by Zion Rangers and declined medical evaluation.
05/29/2025 @ 1433, Heat Related Illness, Left Fork Trail, Zion National Park – Man Hours – 13.5 (Non Certified) 1.5 (Certified)
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to the area of Left Fork Trail head in Zion National Park on a report of a male that was dehydrated and was having heat related medical issues. SAR members arrived on scene with medical personnel and provided the male with water to re hydrate. He was then able to walk to Incident Command under his own power. He was evaluated by the ambulance crew and declined medical transport.
05/31/2025 @ 1330, Heat Related Illness, Scout Cave Trail, Snow Canyon State Park– Man Hours – 6 (Non Certified) 1 (Certified)
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to Scout Cave Trail in Snow Canyon State Park on a report of a female who was experiencing heat related medical issues. SAR members located the female and she was given fluids to re hydrate. She was then assisted back to Incident Command where she declined medical transportation and returned to her vehicle.
05/31/2025 @ 1529, Injured Hiker, Lava Tubes, Snow Canyon State Park– Man Hours – 70 (Non Certified) 3.5 (Certified)
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to Snow Canyon Lava Tubes on a report of a female who had injured her ankle near the bottom of the lava tube. SAR team members, in conjunction with Santa Clara Ivins Medical units responded to the location the patient. Her injury was stabilized and she was loaded in a set of titanium stokes. She was then carried back to Incident Command. She was loaded in an ambulance and transported to the hospital.
06/11/2025 @ 1448, Heat Related Illness, Hurricane Rim Trail – Man Hours – 9 (Non Certified) 1.5 (Certified)
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to the Hurricane Rim Trail on a report of a male who was experiencing heat related symptoms while mountain biking with his juvenile son. The son was able to call 911 and we received a good GPS coordinate as a result. Incident Command (IC) was established at the Hurricane Hill Trailhead. SAR units, in conjunction with Hurricane Valley Medical units responded to the location of the patient. He was evaluated medically and due to his severe symptoms Life Flight was requested to respond. Life Flight was able to land near the patient location and he was loaded in the helicopter. The male was then flown to the hospital. All SAR members were accounted for and cleared the scene.
06/11/2025 @ 1448, Heat Related Illness, Red Sands Trail, Snow Canyon State Park– Man Hours – 10 (Non Certified) 1 (Certified)
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to Red Sands Trail in Snow Canyon on a report of a juvenile female who was experiencing heat related symptoms. Incident Command was established at the trailhead. SAR units, in conjunction with Santa Clara Ivins medical units responded to the location of the patient and her parents. All three individuals were provided with fluids and placed in an air conditioned Jeep. They were then transported back to the trailhead where they declined medical transport.

Deputies responded to Sheep Bridge Rd area on a report of a female who was experiencing heat related symptoms. She was located and provided fluids. She was then taken to the ambulance where she declined medical transport.

Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to Cinder Knolls Trail outside of Diamond Valley on a report of a female who had fallen while hiking and hit her head. Life Flight was requested due to the unknown extent of the head injury. SAR members responded to the location of the patient and evaluated her. Life Flight landed shortly after they arrived. SAR assisted with loading the female into the helicopter. She was then transported via helicopter to the hospital.

Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to Red Reef Trail on a report of a female hiker who was stuck on a ledge and experiencing heat related symptoms. SAR responded to the location of the patient and were able to remove her from the ledge. She was provided with fluids to re hydrate. She was then assisted back to Incident Command (IC) at the trailhead. She was evaluated by medical at IC and declined medical transport.

Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to Red Reef Trail on a report of a male hiker that was having heat related symptoms. SAR personnel were already in the area due to another incident. The male was located and provided fluids. He was then assisted back to the trailhead where he declined medical attention.
