03/20/2025 @ 1039, UTV Rollover, Sand Mountain – Man Hours – 16 (Non Certified) 6 (Certified)
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to Sand Mountain on a report of a side by side rollover.
Initially there was one occupant with reported injuries. When SAR units arrived, it was determined that there were actually three individuals with injuries. Two females were placed in C-Collars, and one male was treated for minor abrasions. All three were then transported in side by sides back to Incident Command at Sand Hollow. One female was transported via ambulance to the hospital. The other male and female declined medical transportation.
03/23/2025 @ 1805, Lost Hikers, Canaan Mountain – Man Hours – 15 (Non Certified) 2 (Certified)
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to Canaan Mountain on a report of five individuals that had become lost while hiking. Due to the remote area that the hikers were lost in, UHP Helicopter STAR9 was requested to assist with the rescue. SAR members began to respond to the location of the patients. STAR9 arrived and landed near the location of the lost party. They then loaded them in the helicopter and transported them back to Maxwell Park in two groups. All individuals declined medical evaluation and were given a ride back to their vehicle.
04/01/2025-04/02/2025 @ 1245, Missing Person, Baker Lake Campground – Man Hours – 24 (Non Certified) 40.5 (Certified)
Deputies and Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to Baker Lake Campground on a report of a campsite that had been abandoned with a vehicle still at the camp site. The male who had rented the campsite was overdue. On 04/01/2025 several deputies, including K9 Scout, a certified Tracking and Cadaver dog, were deployed to attempt to search the area to locate the male. They spent several hours searching for him but were unsuccessful. Due to weather conditions and lack of daylight, the search was postponed until the following day. On 04/02/2025, deputies and SAR team members returned to the area and were able to locate the male who was unfortunately deceased. The preliminary causes appear to be self inflicted but this incident is currently under investigation.

03/21/2025 @ 1419, Stranded Climbers, Water Canyon – Man Hours – 12 (Non Certified) 4 (Certified)
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to Water Canyon on report of two males who were stranded on a cliff ledge. UHP Helicopter STAR9 was requested to assist. SAR members responded to the location of the two males. STAR9 then arrived and hoisted the two males off the cliff ledge and to Sullivan Park where they were checked in an ambulance and declined medical transportation.
03/24/2025 @ 1105, Dirt Bike Accident, Sand Mountain – Man Hours – 19.5 (Non Certified) 4 (Certified)
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to Sand Mountain on a report of a dirt bike accident near Top of the World. Incident Command (IC) was established at the water tanks. SAR team members, in conjunction with Hurricane Fire, responded to the location of the patient. He was evaluated and appeared to have a suspected hip injury. Units on scene stabilized the male and placed him on a backboard. He was transported in a side by side with stokes back to the bottom of the mountain. SAR units assisted with loading the patient into the ambulance. He was then transported to the hospital.
03/26/2025 @ 2102, Lost Hikers, Red Reef Trail, Red Cliffs Desert Reserve – Man Hours – 33 (Non Certified) 3 (Certified)
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to Red Reef Trail on a report of two males who had gotten lost while hiking Red Reef Trail. SAR members located the males and guided them back to incident command where they declined medical evaluation.
03/27/2025 @ 1305, Injured Hiker, Upper Sand Cove Area – Man Hours – 16 (Non Certified) 1.5 (Certified)
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to Upper Sand Cover Reservoir area on a report of a female who had a suspected broken ankle. SAR units, in conjunction with Dammeron Valley Fire units, responded to the location of the patient. Her injury was stabilized and she was transported in a set of stokes back to Incident Command. She declined medical transport
03/28/2025 @ 1925, Side By Side Rollover, Warner Valley – Man Hours – 2 (Certified)
Deputies responded to Warner Valley on a report of a side by side rollover involving two male patients. Life Flight was requested due to the nature of injuries. The males were located by deputies and evaluated by Hurricane Medical Personnel. One male was loaded in a Life Flight Helicopter and transported to the hospital. The other declined medical transportation.
03/29/2025 @ 1739, Side By Side Rollover, Sand Mountain – Man Hours – 20 (Non Certified) 3 (Certified)
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to Sand Mountain on a report of a side by side rollover involving a male with a suspected head injury. Incident Command was established at the water tanks. SAR members, in conjunction with Hurricane Valley Medical, and State Rangers, responded to the location of the rollover. The patient was located and stabilized. He was then transported back down the mountain to Incident Command and transported to the hospital via ambulance.
03/30/2025 @ 1812, Injured Hiker, Snow Canyon State Park – Man Hours – 17 (Non Certified) 2 (Certified)
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to Butterfly Trail in Snow Canyon on a report of a male who had injured his ankle. SAR units, in conjunction with Santa Clara Fire units responded to the location of the male. He was evaluated and stabilized, he was then escorted back to the trailhead walking under his own power. He declined medical transportation.
04/05/2025 @ 1333, Motorcycle Accident, Sand Mountain – Man Hours – 13.5 (Non Certified) 2 (Certified)
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to Sand Mountain on a report of a dirt bike accident. The patient sustained suspected back and neck injuries. SAR, in conjunction with Recreation Rangers, and Hurricane Valley Medical Personnel, responded to the location of the patient. He was stabilized and transported back down the mountain in a side by side. He was then transported to the hospital via ambulance.
04/11/2025 @ 1350, Lost Hiker, Quail Creek Reservoir – Man Hours – 16.5 (Non Certified) 2 (Certified)
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to the mountain just above quail lake on the east side near Grandpas Pond on a report of an overdue hiker that was on the ridge. Incident Command (IC) was established at Grandpas Pond in Hurricane. SAR Members in conjunction with Hurricane Fire responded to the location of the patient. The patient was given water and was able to walk out to a vehicle with SAR members. The patient was then evaluated by medical personnel at IC. The patient declined medical evaluation and was given a ride back to his vehicle.
04/11/2025 @ 1505, Lost Hikers, Historic Babylon Trail, Red Cliffs Desert Reserve – Man Hours – 7.5 (Non Certified) 2 (Certified)
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to Historic Babylon on a report of two overdue hikers who were on the purgatory trail, had no water, and could not walk any further. Due to the remote location and the fact that SAR members were busy with another incident, UHP helicopter STAR7 was called in to assist with the rescue. STAR7 assisted with locating the hikers. SAR members, along with the BLM ranger and DWR, responded to the location of the hikers and assisted with giving them fluids. Both parties were able to walk out safely under their own power after getting the water they needed. They declined medical attention once they returned to IC.
04/11/2025 @ 2122, Stranded Hikers, Cowboy Ridge, Zion National Park – Man Hours – 2 (Certified)
Deputies responded to a report of two hikers who were stranded on Cowboy Ridge in Zion National Park. Zion Rangers were unable to respond to this incident. The hikers were out of water and unable to get down from the ledge they had ended up on. Based on their GPS coordinates, they appeared to be in a good location for a helicopter to hoist. Due to the remote location and darkness, STAR7 was requested to assist. STAR7 located the two stranded hikers and utilized their hoist system to retrieve them. They were then taken back to their vehicle at the trailhead.
04/13/2025 @ 1227, Side by Side Rollover, Sand Mountain – Man Hours – 2.5 (Certified)
Deputies responded to a Side by Side Rollover on Sand Mountain. They responded to the location of the patient and assisted Life Flight with securing and loading the patient into the helicopter. Once the patient was in Life Flights care, they cleared the scene.
04/15/2025 @ 1815, Lost Child, New Harmony Bridge – Man Hours – 25.5 (Non Certified) 6 (Certified)
Deputies, In conjunction with Search and Rescue (SAR), responded to New Harmony on a report of a missing autistic child. The child reportedly wandered off while the family was taking pictures. Due to the are that had to be covered, several resources were utilized including STAR9, drones, a tracking K9, and SAR members. Units searched the area for the missing child and the child was located a short while later approximately .3 miles from the location she was last seen. She was then returned to her family.
04/16/2025 @ 1050, Side By Side Rollover, Sand Mountain – Man Hours – 13.5 (Non Certified) 1.5 (Certified)
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to a report of a side by side rollover on Sand Mountain.
Incident Command (IC) was established at the water tanks. SAR, in conjunction with Hurricane Medical units and Recreation Rangers, responded to the location of the accident. Both individuals were stabilized and transported back down the mountain. They were then loaded in an ambulance and transported to the hospital.
04/19/2025 @ 2003, Body Recovery, Laverkin Bridge – Man Hours – 4 (Non Certified) 24 (Certified)
Deputies responded to Laverkin Bridge on a report of a male who had been located below the bridge. Units responded to the location of the male and determined that unfortunately the male was deceased. Search and Rescue (SAR) was requested to assist with recovering the deceased male. SAR units assisted with recovering the male. They then cleared the scene.
04/20/2025 @ 1636, Injured Hiker, Red Mountain, Red Cliffs Desert Reserve – Man Hours – 26 (Non Certified) 2 (Certified)
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to Red Mountain Trail on a report of a male who reportedly twisted his ankle and was unable to hike out. Utah Highway Patrol Helicopter STAR9 was requested to assist due to the terrain at the patient location. SAR units, in conjunction with Santa Clara Ivins Fire/Medical personnel responded to the location of the male. He was evaluated and stabilized. STAR9 hoisted the male from his location back to the trailhead. He was then loaded in an ambulance and transported to the hospital.
04/21/2025 @ 1822, Medical Problem, Padre Canyon, Red Cliffs Desert Reserve – Man Hours – 27 (Non Certified) 3 (Certified)
Search and Rescue responded to Padre Canyon in the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve on a report of a female hiker who was sick. SAR responded to the location of the patient. She was evaluated and transported back to the Incident Command in a set of stokes. She was then transported to the hospital.
04/24/2025 @ 1204, Injured Hiker, Scout Cave Trail, Snow Canyon – Man Hours – 11 (Non Certified) 1 (Certified)
Search and Rescue responded to Scout Cave Trail on a report of a female hiker who had suffered a suspected ankle injury. SAR units, in conjunction with Santa Clara Ivins Fire/EMS, responded to the location of the patient. She was stabilized and loaded in a wheeled stokes basket. She was then wheeled back to Incident Command where she declined medical transport. The patient and her husband were given a ride back to their vehicle at the Chuckwalla Trailhead. All SAR members were accounted for and cleared the scene.
04/30/2025 @ 1043, Lost Hiker, Water Canyon – Man Hours – 12 (Non Certified) 2 (Certified)
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to Water Canyon area on a report of a male who was lost. SAR members began to respond to the location of the male. UHP helicopter STAR7 was requested to assist with the search. STAR7 was able to locate the male. They then landed and loaded him in the helicopter. He was then transported to Maxwell Park. The male declined medical evaluation and was given a ride back to his vehicle at the Water Canyon Trailead.
05/01/2025 @ 2041, Lost Hiker, Johnson Canyon Trail, Snow Canyon – Man Hours – 24 (Non Certified) 2 (Certified)
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to a report of a female lost near Johnson Canyon Trail in Snow Canyon State Park. SAR located the female and gave her fluids. She was then guided back to her vehicle. The patient was was feeling light headed but declined medical treatment or for EMS to respond. SAR members gave her a ride back to her residence without incident.
05/03/2025 @ 1541, Lost Hiker, Vortex Trail – Man Hours – 21 (Non Certified) 2 (Certified)
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to a report of a male who was lost on the Vortex Trail. When they arrived at the trailhead, they did not observe any vehicles. SAR members began to search near the males GPS coordinates for him. A short while later, contact was made by phone with the missing male. He explained that he had found a group of hikers who guided him out prior to SAR arricving. All SAR members returned to Incident Command and cleared the scene.
05/04/2025 @ 0027, Lost Motorist, Warner Valley – Man Hours – 3 (Non Certified) 1.5 (Certified)
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to a report of a male who was lost in his vehicle in Warner Valley. SAR members located the male and safely guided him back to the pavement.
