10/17/2024 @ 1057, Side By Side Rollover, Sand Mountain – Man Hours – 30
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to an ATV rollover near top of the world. A female suffered
injuries as a result of the rollover. Search and rescue members assisted with loading her onto the LifeFlight Helicopter and she was transported to the hospital.
10/17/2024 @ 2246, Stranded Hikers, The Narrows, Zion National Park– Man Hours – 70
Search and Rescue responded to a report of four adults and three minors stuck in the narrows
during a severe rain storm. Utah DPS helicopter Star 9 was requested to assist. All seven
individuals were hoisted by Star 9 and returned to Incident Command without incident.
10/19/2024 @ 1044, Injured Mountain Biker, Red Bull Rampage Site – Man Hours –16.5
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to the Red Bull Rampage site on a report of a male who had
crashed on his mountain bike. The male had a suspected head injury. Life Flight was requested and Incident Command was established at the staging area below the males location. Life Flight also landed at the staging area. SAR personnel, in conjunction with Hurricane Medical units, and Life Flight medics, responded to the location of the patient. He was stabilized and placed in a rescue litter. He was transported via a rescue litter approximately 150 yards to a waiting Jeep. He was loaded in the Jeep and transported to the location of the Life Flight Helicopter where he was transferred to the helicopter. The patient was then transported to the hospital via Life Flight.
10/19/2024 @ 1819, Side By Side Rollover, Sand Mountain – Man Hours – 14
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to a report of side by side rollover on Sand Mountain. SAR safely transported all four patients back to Incident Command. Two patients were transported to St George Regional for injuries. The other two declined medical transport.
10/22/2024 @ 2020, Boating Accident, Sand Hollow State Park – Man Hours – 16.5
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to a report of a boating accident in Sand Hollow Reservoir. A wake boat ran into the rocky shore and sunk as a result. All individuals in the boat were out of the water by the time SAR arrived. The SAR Dive Team utilized lift bags to recover the boat and towed it to shore without incident.
10/26/2024 @ 1903, Stranded Motorist, Beaver Dam Wash – Man Hours – 20
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to a report of a male stuck near Beaver Dam Wash
area. The male had no water and was diabetic. SAR team members located the male and were
able to give him water. They then escorted him back to the pavement in his vehicle out without
incident.
10/26/2024 @ 2208, Overdue Hikers, The Subway, Zion National Park – Man Hours– 56
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to a report of seven overdue hikers in Zion National Park. Utah DPS Helicopter STAR 9 was called in to help locate the hikers. STAR 9 located the group and SAR personnel hiked to their location. The lost hikers were then escorted out on foot without incident.
10/28/2024 @ 1611, Stranded Boater, Upper Sand Cove Reservoir – Man Hours – 5
Deputies responded to a report of a male who was stuck in his boat on Upper Sand Cove Reservoir due to high winds. The wind had blown him to the side of the reservoir. They assisted him with getting back
to shore.
11/10/2024 @ 1331, Injured Mountain Biker, Red Bull Rampage Site – Man Hours –36
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to the Red Bull Rampage site on a report of a mountain bike accident involving a male. The patient had suffered significant injuries. Several medical helicopters, in addition to STAR9, were requested to respond. SAR personnel, in conjunction with Hurricane medical units, responded to the location of the injured male and began evaluating and stabilizing him. Due to the unavailability of a medical helicopter, the patient was hoisted from the location by STAR 9 and loaded in an ambulance. He was then transported to the hospital via ambulance.
11/13/2024 @ 1649, Stranded Hiker, Padre Canyon, Snow Canyon – Man Hours – 18
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to a report of a stranded female hiker near Padre Canyon in Snow Canyon State Park. SAR personnel located the hiker and utilized ropes to lower her to a safe spot. She was then escorted back to Incident Command without incident.
11/14/2024 @ 1742, Lost Hikers, Butterfly Trail, Snow Canyon – Man Hours – 2
Deputies responded to a report of two lost female hikers in Snow Canyon State Park. They located the lost hikers on a gravel road and provided them with a ride back to their vehicle.
11/16/2024 @ 1514, Injured Hiker, Petrified Dunes Trail, Snow Canyon – Man Hours – 34
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to a report of a female who had an ankle injury on Petrified Dunes trail in Snow Canyon. SAR units in conjunction with Santa Clara Ivins Medical units responded to the location of the female. She was evaluated and carried back to the road with a litter basket. She was then loaded in an ambulance and transported to the hospital. All SAR units were accounted for and cleared the scene.
11/17/2024 @ 1410, Injured Mountain Biker, Gooseberry Mesa – Man Hours – 10
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to Gooseberry Mesa on a report of a female who had crashed on her mountain bike. The female had a suspected head injury. Life Flight was requested due to her injuries. SAR arrived at the location of the female and landed Life Flight near the patient. The patient was evaluated and loaded in the Life Flight helicopter. She was then transported to the hospital via Life Flight.
11/22/2024 @ 1813, Lost Hikers, Red Reef Trail, Red Cliffs Desert Reserve – ManHours – 44
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to Red Reef Trail on a report of two lost hikers. SAR members hiked in and located the males. They then guided them back to the trailhead without incident.
11/23/2024 @ 1356, Heart Attack, Red Mountain Trail – Man Hours – 30
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to a report of a male having a heart attack in the area of Red Mountain Trail. The male was located by SAR and treated. SAR assisted with loading the male on the life flight helicopter. The male was then transported to the hospital via Life Flight.
11/25/2024 @ 1748, Side by Side Rollover, Sand Mountain – Man Hours – 19.5
Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to a report of a side by side rollover on Sand Mountain involving a female patient with a suspected arm injury. Incident Command (IC) was established at the Water Tanks. SAR, in conjunction with Hurricane Medical units located the patient. She was evaluated and her injury was stabilized. She was then transported to IC where she was loaded in an ambulance and transported to the hospital.
